Photo 1:
I chose this photo because it demonstrates the use of depth of field very well ; the first pillar as well as the background is out of focus but the middle pillar is in focus. This image also uses the rule of thirds, with the focal point in the center. To take this photo I had a 50mm lens with an f-stop of 1.8. The ISO was 140 and the shutter speed was 1/4000 sec. |
Photo 2:
This photo is one of my best because it has many colors that make it interesting and uses a shallow depth of field. This image also shows repetition because of the shape of the books. When I edited this picture, I made the colors more vibrant to make them draw the viewer's eye in more. This photo reminds me of when you're looking through a big collection of something, in this case books, and one of them specifically just stands out to you. |
Photo 3:
This picture was taken as part of the shutter speed assignment. I like this photo because it freezes the dice without blur as they're being thrown. I was positioned at the same level as the dice as they were released. The image has a small depth of field because only the dice are in focus. I believe this is one of my best photos because I edited out the corner of the light box in order to create a smooth and less distracting background. The ISO was set to 800. Photo 4:
This picture was taken during the studio portraits assignment. I chose this photo for my portfolio because it captures emotion very well and conveys it in the photo. I was positioned at the same level as my model. I chose to put this image in black and white while editing because I feel that without color it really makes the viewer focus on the expression on her face. I believe this is one of my best photos because it appropriately uses the studio lighting while capturing the expression of human emotions. |
